Pacific Exposition Decorating Company's Environmental policy
Pacific Exposition Decorating Company values and practices "Reduce, Re-Use and Recycle" principles in all aspects of our business. We encourage the use of more environmental means in producing our clients' events and offer many solutions to lessen the environmental impact of the tradeshow industry by promoting sustainability and social responsibility.
Following are some of the steps we are taking to make our business more sustainable:
- We reduce paper waste by offering On-Line ordering of all our products and services to our client's exhibitors instead of mass paper mailings of multi-page exhibitor kits as well as electronic distribution of office forms and correspondence such as proposals and marketing materials, invoices, inquiries and memos. When printing is required, those projects are printed double sided on recycled content paper.
- We eliminate waste by using products that are inherently efficient, such as using wide format plotters capable of printing directly to a variety of substrates. This eliminates volumes of wasted paper and plastic backing materials and unused substrates in our graphics department. Large file transfers are completed on an ftp website instead of mailing compact cd's or floppy discs.
- We remove our name and address from mailing lists in order to prevent junk mail.
- We use 100% renewable energy from PGE's "Healthy Habitat" program.
- We use bio-fuels in our delivery trucks from SQbiofuels.
- We maintaining our equipment to "excellent condition" we are able to keep our shows looking the best and reduce waste. After equipment is no longer in re-usable condition, it is broken down to its basic components and recycled.
- We use citrus-based cleaning solutions in our office and warehouse including all carpet cleaning.
- We purchase recycled content where ever possible. This includes paper for printing, business cards, envelopes, marketing fliers that must be mailed as well as restroom and cleaning supplies.
- We use durable kitchenware and eco-friendly detergents are used in our lunch room. We purchase coffee, sugar and creamer in bulk.
- Our Office and warehouse equipment including lights, computers, printers and plotters are turned off at the end of day.
- All paper, cardboard, wood, metal, glass, table vinyl and recyclable plastics are recycled. Foam board and carpet is donated to charity or re-used as packing materials in our crates and shipping boxes.
- Our workers "share the ride" to and from job sites. This not only saves costs in fuel, but also reduces parking and road congestion.
- We offer education for our clients as well as our employees on how to be more aware of what can be done in our office, warehouse, at job sites and at home to reduce the amount of waste we produce, reuse or donate what can be reused and recycle what can be recycled. Please visit our "Greening up your event" for tips on how to make your next event more environmentally friendly.
At Pacific Expo, we will continue to seek out more environmental methods and products to contribute to the sustainability of our industry. Please contact us if you have suggestions, comments, environmental success stories or products and services that will help us and our clients be better custodians of the earth.
